Complicated process, involving interactions with multiple hiring mangers and internal stakeholders. Interviews were conducted via phone, over lunch and in-person. Interviewers were collegial, asked pertinent questions and had genuine interest in candidacy.
This was a courtesy interview since the person they wanted to hire had already been selected. It afforded me the opportunity to learn a lot about the department. I found out what they actually did; the types of vendors they dealt with, their structure; who reported to who (something hard to figure out with all the restructuring going on) and much more!

Question 1
No question like this was asked since they had already selected the individual for this job. The rest of us were interviewed just for the sake of going through the process.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Cengage (Boston, MA) in Jan 2009
Interview
As an internal candidate, my interview process was probably less complicated than it might be for an external candidate. Three rounds of interviews with five people in the first round, three in the next, and two in the last. Questions focused on how to manage authors, schedules, conflict, internal stakeholders and manage during ambiguity.
