I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Chipotle in May 2015
Interview
I applied online and received a phone call less than a week later. I was invited to interview along with two other prospective employees. The first interview was with a manager and maybe eight current employees, and it went really well. I got another phone call the following day to be interviewed individually. I arrived on time, but had to wait about 45 minutes before the interview began. I talked to basically every employee I didn't meet during the first interview. Everyone was very friendly. At the end of the (lengthy) interview, I was told I got the job. I didn't hear from anyone for weeks while Chipotle did a background check -- for a crew member position.
Finally, nearly a month after I had applied for the job, one of the managers called me and left a voicemail. I called back, and I was told that they were busy and that I should call again in an hour. I did. The person who answered the phone that time told me that the manager wasn't in and that I should call the next day. I did. The manager who answered the phone THAT time said that he wasn't in charge of training so I should call at a later time when the correct manager would be in.
Long story short: The hiring process was way too tedious, complicated and drawn-out for a glorified fast-food job. I didn't bother pursuing it.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Chipotle (North Chicago, IL) in Jun 2015
Interview
Applied online and got called two weeks later. Interviewed along with another person. The manager was very friendly and encouraged both of us to ask more questions. The interview went well and I got the job.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Chipotle (Wayne, PA) in Jun 2015
Interview
I had an interview the day after I put in the application because I was referred by a current employee. My first interview was with the service manager which was really fun because it felt like more of a conversation (we laughed a lot). She asked me to come back the next day for the interview with the general manager. I came back and was interviewed by the GM along with about 8 employees. That was different. It just felt like a conversation with friends that are catching up. They vibe was amazing. It took them no time to deliberate, I was welcomed to their chipotle family on the spot.
