I applied through other source. I interviewed at Deel (New York, NY) in Jan 2026
Interview
I think this company should be investigated for potentially unethical hiring practices. They create a hiring event that supposedly guarantees you can interview. This lures people into their online event, which is actually an attempt to beat a Guinness world record for hiring events. How many people are they actually hiring? They don’t tell you, yet they want to draw thousands of attendees and applicants. Not only did they want to beat the world record with this event, but it seems like they wanted to train their AI model for free. During the event, they avoided all the concrete company questions, primarily answering theoretical and possibly planted questions like “do you hire in this/that country?” The speakers merely spoke about how great they think Deel is. The guaranteed interview was AI, and you answered basic questions to a bot about how to move forward with leads and closing deals. As expected, at least 99% of applicants didn’t move forward from that stage. Deel wasn’t transparent about how many roles they wanted filled or in which locations. And the size of their event clearly didn’t align with the size they are hiring (if they were hiring at all)

Question 1
Basic questions about how to move forward with leads and closing deals
Under the guise of a real interview, I sat with an AI bot that had a poor accent and no text appeared on the screen. Numerous times during the Deel event I asked about US states they would not be hiring from. No one answered. Folks on LinkedIn however told me they were not hiring from my state. This should have been disclosed before I bothered wasting my time on this silly event which was all done to break a stupid record.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Deel in Jan 2026
Interview
I’ve followed this company for a long time and genuinely wanted to join. My experience as a candidate, however, was disappointing.
After being told my profile was a good fit for Customer Success, I was later completely ghosted, even as new roles opened. Multiple applications resulted in generic rejections with zero feedback.
The recent “guaranteed interview” hiring event was the most frustrating part. It was not clearly disclosed that the interview would be AI-based rather than a real one-on-one conversation. The recruiter never mentioned this at any point.
This felt misleading, especially given the emphasis on breaking a Guinness World Record instead of respecting candidates’ time.
Strong leadership and inspiring messaging on stage, but the actual hiring process feels impersonal and poorly handled.
