I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at EY (Los Angeles, CA) in Apr 2026
Interview
Scheduling was very odd. The recruiter reached out and then placed a random time on my calendar without inquiring about my schedule. I have never had that happen before. It felt really presumptuous and rude.
Despite that, I had what felt like a positive interview. The recruiter repeated herself a lot about the structure, what questions she would ask, and why. It lasted about 30 minutes. She told me that she was happy to let me know she'd be moving me on to the next round to meet with the hiring manager and I would hear from her early the next week.
The next night at 9:30pm I received an auto-responder to my application that it would not be considered.
Not being sure if that was a mistake, because that was a pretty cruddy way to be told the hiring manager didn't like my resume or whatever. I messaged the recruiter that it felt really impersonal, plus messaging folks a rejection at 9:30pm was pretty dehumanizing and lacking empathy.
Some tips for EY:
1. For a global company of your size and depth, you ought to invest in a scheduling tool for candidates.
2. You should be able to time your autoresponders to not send "thanks but no thanks" emails to folks outside of business hours in their time zones.
3. If you have already made 1:1 contact with a candidate, sending an auto-responder decline is really un-empathetic and says more about the state of your company than it does about the candidate's skillset.
