I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Equinox (Beverly Hills, CA) in Jan 2019
Interview
I had a phone screen set up with a recruiter, and then an in-person meeting with a regional director (or equivalent, not sure of the titles). The next step would have been another onsite meeting more members of the team at Equinox's Beverly Hills office.
My in-person meeting was a bit disorganized. I wasn't really given much choice to date and time of meeting, so I was slotted in at 8am. (I didn't ask to reschedule so I guess my fault there.) My interviewer hadn't let building security know I was coming, plus he was just a few minutes late so we bumped into each other in the lobby. Our conversation was fine, and lasted around 30 minutes. I didn't follow up afterwards and still haven't heard back about any next steps or even a rejection. I found it a waste of my time to drive out to Beverly Hills and find parking, all before my 8am in-person.
The office vibe seemed a bit stuffy to me as well. Everyone was dressed in what seemed like the more formal side of "business casual." Not my cup of tea.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Equinox
Interview
I got a recruiter email about working for Equinox and thought it could be a decent opportunity, and received an invite to talk to the CTO in person or do a call. I had some free time so I decided to visit in person, as usually that means one is more interested in the job. I had a nice chat with the CTO (if a bit brief) about my background and talked about the growing team. After leaving, I received an email about doing another phone call with some other developers, and confirmed it.
Day of the conference rolls around and I don't get a call. I email twice asking about if it's still going on and get radio silence back. I send a follow up email if there's a reschedule, and get nothing.
Way to drop the ball.
I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Equinox (New York, NY) in Mar 2016
Interview
Short and straightforward; the interview starting as a phone screen and then moved into a 1:1 in-person interview. After the 1:1, there is a group interview. The process is a well-oiled machine.
