TL;DR: Their hiring process lacks transparency and integrity. They seem to open positions only to justify hiring their interim employees, leading candidates through fake interviews.
I learned about this practice from a friend working there -that this role was open just to hire interim employee - and unfortunately, my own experience confirmed it.
Here’s what happened:
I passed the first interview [one hour] and subsequently completed two assessments (one-hour in total). Then, I was invited for a second interview with the People & Culture and the hiring manager. The manager was reportedly sick [Probably she was not, did not want to waste her time because they had their one candidate], so I understood we’d continue once she recovered. (that meeting was supposed to be a joint meeting with HM & PC)
Only a few days later, I saw that the position had been closed — long before it would have been possible to complete the remaining 2 steps. Shortly after, the Head of People & Culture called me to say they had hired their interim employee instead, adding that “it takes months to get to know the JTI culture.” That basically means the new employees are not welcomed.
This clearly shows that the decision had already been made, and the process was just a formality. It’s disappointing, especially for a company that promotes values like integrity and inclusiveness.
I would strongly advise candidates to think twice before investing their time in such a process, as it may be for a position that was never truly open in the first place. It is such a shame.
