Interview
when i finally got called into the room i was greeted by the hiring manager, who by the way, was just the sweetest lady ever. Any how we sat in her office she began telling me a brief background of the company and about the healing powers in massage therapy and what not. Then she had me read a script with her, which went horribly, i felt so stupid after having to read that, the script she gave me did not have any cues to what lines i would be saying, so needless to say that was a nightmare. After that we discussed things like core values, work history, and so on, which went really great. I felt like i really had something going there until she asked if i was a smoker, which i am. so i replied yes. She then made one of those sad disappointing "oh noo" faces, like the reaction you would have to if you found out your favorite candy bar got discontinued.
She followed my response by asking me "well, shucks....ummm,,,,do you plan on quitting soon? and she started on about, any employee who smells even a little like smoke is qualified for immediate termination, and then said, and you would need to keep your uniform here if you smoke in your house and so on.Needless to say i did not get a call back, which i am very very sure is because i'm a smoker.
anywhos i would have never been able to survive on the $8.00 an hour for only 6-12 hours a week when initially i was told the postion was going to be full time.

Typical interview questions. .. what made you decide to work in the skincare field, why did you decide to send your resume to Massage Envy, what do you know about the company.
Had to perform a facial.. be prepared! This was not like working on a customer in school at all. They want you to ask your customer alot of questions, be sure you include massage in all areas and extractions.
I was asked to discuss my recommendation for skincare at home during and after my facial interview. They want someone who is a decent esthetician, as in know your stuff enough to not hurt anyone, but you will be trained on their product line. What they truly look for is a really great salesperson, which is not something you learn in school. So, definitely practice with someone you know is really good at this before your interview.
You learn basic recommendations, but they want you to "educate your client on why it is right and important for them based on their skin concerns and goals".
All in all, great place truly, just be confident and not afraid to talk to your customer (which will be someone that works there)about their skin during your interview.

Question 1
Pretending my interviewer is a customer waiting to get signed in and I have to approach her. My goal is to find out why she is here and to inform her I do skincare and discuss with her.

Easy, questions about past experience, it was super casual they really just wanted to get to know me as a person and what I would be like to work with.
