I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Okta (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2022
Interview
Recruiter reached out for screen. Went onto manager screen. Manager was unprepared during the entire interview process. Her laptop was bouncing around like it was on her lap. She asked standard questions which highlighted that she didnt know what kind of person she was looking for. At one point, she asked how many HC i supported and i replied then she followed up with total sales HC. I deflected and lied that I didnt know because she should know given her position that I wouldnt disclose that. It had no bearing to the interview process.
Honestly, i had a bad impression of her. I’m glad I didnt move on because I would have declined further interviews. I spoke to a peer that had interviewed there and she had the same exact impression with the hiring manager. We actually laughed that we got the same vibe.
The process is very complex however this gives the team and the company as well as the interviewee a chance to be sure that you they will be working with the right people. It consists of a few stages:
* Recruiter call
* Hiring manager call
* Hiring team call
* Technical task
* Final call
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why do you want to become a Community Manager at Okta?
The first call was with the recruiter and that followed by an interview with the hiring manager, technical challenge with a panel and lastly, a conversation with the VP of Solutions Engineering.
Throughout the entire process, the recruiter was extremely responsive and transparent about what to expect next. Every step had a purpose and conversations I had with others didn’t overlap. They were accommodating with scheduling. Overall, had a positive and professional experience all around.
