The recruiter who ghosted - a tale of woes 👻
Once upon a time there was a feisty, yet savvy Product Manager who was in search of her next adventure. When lo and behold, a recruiter called out to her about a job application!
“Kind miss, what a lovely resume you have!” She said.
“Why, thank you madam, I am delighted you think so,” the Product Manager responded.
“Say, would you be willing to submit yourself for interview by our company so that we may hire you?” She asked.
“Why, I would be delighted!” The Product Manager said enthusiastically.
Days went by without a word from the recruiter. However the savvy Product Manager knew it was the joyous holiday season and let it slide.
She finally heard from the recruiter again, who had scheduled a meeting without alerting the Product Manager or asking her availability. No bother, thought the Product Manager. It worked out in the end.
The Product Manager had three lovely interviews with excellent professionals. She felt optimistic about her prospects and reached out to the recruiter for next steps. The recruiter said she would review with her colleagues and get back to the Product Manager the following day.
A week went by. Nothing. The Product Manager sent an email. No response.
Another week went by. Another email sent. Still nothing.
The Product Manager was starting to feel doubtful. What was going on?
Another week went by. The Product Manager sent an email and called the recruiter. But no response…
In the end, the Product Manager decided to move on. She never knew what became of the recruiter and the lovely job she had offered, but knew that dwelling on it further would lead nowhere. She knew now to notice the signs of an evil recruiter and was more vigilant henceforth.
(This is a true story told in an old timey way for fun - careful of the ghost recruiters at Pearson).
