I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at RBC (Ottawa, ON) in Jun 2013
Interview
You first have a phone interview, then you complete an online psychology test and if you pass they call you in to do a face to face interview.
I strongly suggest going into a branch with your resume after applying online to meet with the Manager Client Care. Not all managers welcome this but more often than not, they do. This will set you apart from the hundreds and hundreds of applications they receive at HR headquarters, a majority of which is never filtered through to the actual branch that will be hiring. If 300 people apply, HR headquarter sends like 20 applications to the branch so if you wan to be selected for a face to face interview, go in with your resume and ask to speak with the hiring manager briefly. Let them know you applied online but wanted to meet the manager face to face and introduce yourself etc. Dress and prepare like it's a proper interview right then and there. He/she may see you for only a minute or may end up talking to you for 20 minutes, either way PREPARE.

Asked general questions like previous banking experience, why I applied and such. I was interviewed by two friendly individuals. It was less daunting than anticipated. If you are seeking immediate employement, a bank may not be a viable options.
