I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify in Oct 2016
Interview
You start spending about 10 hours building your first Shopify site before your first interview.
Make you do everything they ask or you will not get an interview.
Second you will have an interview with a recruiter. Its all about your life story.
Third is the guantlet
You get an offer or you don't/
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
There is no real interview, they want your life story to see if you match the culture. Basically you have to be outgoing and helpful and able to think on your feet
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Shopify (Toronto, ON) in Jul 2016
Interview
It was fairly straight forward, the person interviewing me stated at the very beginning how the interview would run. So, I found there were no real surprises as the interview progressed.
Two issues.... she seemed very "unworldly," or inexperienced, not quite sure how to put my finger on it... she didn't really seem to have a full grasp of my work experience. She finished the interview by telling me the customer success guru is a very demanding job and since I'm not used to demanding work or prepared to take on a demanding role I won't like the position... as if managing multiple retail outlets isn't?
I also think they need to look a resumes/work experience before going into the interview. As much as they say it allows them to approach you with fresh eyes...etc.. I strongly suspect interviews would be far more productive if they knew a little about you going in. (As I have conducted many interviews in my own work experience. )
I applied online. I interviewed at Shopify in Feb 2016
Interview
I applied online and was sent a small "quiz" via email and then was given the opportunity to schedule a time for a skype interview. The interview went fine, it was very informal and mainly went through my life story. I thought it went well, but they decided not to move forward.
