I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify in Jan 2016
Interview
I spent a lot of time creating a detailed shop and adding extra things to it. Had a personal interview over Skype, with the famous life story questions. I think we chatted for about an hour. I ended up being way more open with them than I normally would be in an interview and wondered after the interview if that was a bad idea, but I was invited to do the gauntlet.
There was a website with info to prepare for the gauntlet, which I found helpful. For the gauntlet the person from Shopify pretended to be a customer and I had to respond by phone, chat, and email. It was challenging but fun. Afterwards I could totally understand why they take the time to do that because it gives us an idea of what the job will be like and them an idea of how we respond when faced with questions we have no idea about. Afterwards, we chatted a little more. We ran out of time so we had another chat another day to go over the basic things about what the job would be like.
They asked for and contacted a few professional references, and then offered me the job. After I applied, my whole hiring process took about 2 weeks; they seemed to be pretty booked with gauntlets.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Shopify (Vancouver, BC) in Feb 2016
Interview
The interview was split up into multiple parts. First a phone call, second phone call, then the Gauntlet which is a roleplaying session to test your ability to dig for information.

Question 1
Personal questions and random moments in your life to find out what kind of person you are.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Toronto, ON) in Apr 2016
Interview
I was referred by a friend and got an interview with one of the recruiters. The Story interview was fun and I got through to the Gauntlet. The Gauntlet well... it's the Gauntlet. You have to be incredibly resourceful, fast at googling, not get frustrated and maintain your character role for the phone calls, live chats and email tests. It was pretty stressful to say the least because you are going in with literally no knowledge.
