I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Montreal, QC) in Dec 2015
Interview
I've made 4 Skype interviews and then 5 meetings in presence. It was great! Nice people to talk to, in an informal conversation-style, about technical and general things. One of the meetings was the most technical interview with a pair programming session.
I applied online, after a few days I received an email for a face to face interview if I am in Ottawa, otherwise an interview through Skype.
I chose Skype. The interview started with 15 minutes delay, the interviewer hadn't read my resume before interview. I had searched through internet about their interview before and every where they had said just be yourself and honest with us in Shopify interviews. But it was wrong!

Question 1
First she asked, Why did you apply for this position?
When She found out I am an emigrant, she asked where were you before? Why did you decide to come to Canada? (!!!) , why don't you apply for a full time job?
It was obvious that she lost her interest after that. The interview was suppposed to be one hour but she finished it by 15 minutes without asking much about my background and experiences!
Very disappointing and unfair interview.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify in Sep 2015
Interview
Got a referral from the friend of an employee. The process took 3 weeks because the recruiter was booked solid. The interview was on Skype and was mostly conversational banter. What I hated was that the interviewer made you feel that you did really well because you don't get a sense of how well you really performed. Also, they say that they would get back to you but they never do.
