I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify in Mar 2021
Interview
Interview process was multi-stage and thorough. Creating your own trial store was optional in the application, but I would recommend doing so. It will not only show enthusiasm, but will help with 'the Gauntlet' interview if you're successful down the line.
I found the two interviews I had with an HR rep and then later a team leader to be pretty standard. Relatively straight forward and normal interview prep will get you through.
The Technical ('Gauntlet') interview is more of a work test; 2 concurrent chats and a single phone call with a merchant. If you find the correct info quickly they'll keep adding more to their request to keep the conversation going. My biggest tip is to keep the merchant on the line with phrases like "just hunting for the best way to do that, I'll be right with you", or just general chit chat "what does your business do/where are you based? etc." You're being assessed on how you interact as much as finding the right info. Definitely worth looking through their online help and your trial store to get familiar with it all.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
Tell me a little about how you deal with stressful situations?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Toronto, ON) in Apr 2021
Interview
Was very easy and generic questions were asked. The interviewer was very friendly and felt like a conversation. The interviewer asked about past experiences and common interview questions. This was the first part of the interview, once you pass you will perform a technical interview.
The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Shopify (Edmonton, AB) in Jan 2021
Interview
The first interview was great. It was a more get to know you and not so much an actually interview. I thought things were going great for me. I got selected to do the technical interview, I was sent information on how to prepare. I went through the website and used the example questions they gave. The day of the technical interview came and well everything went to hell. I tried my very best. The Shopify website is hard to navigate if you don’t know what you are doing as there are links within page after page that you need. They expect people who are not yet trained for the role to step into the actual position and know what to do. I’m sorry but without actual training I don’t think I’m going to know how to do the position to their standards. I really wanted this position.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Not really any interview questions. Just a get to know you conversation.
