I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Spectrum (Denver, CO) in May 2017
Interview
Very brief, not so in depth, it was a mass interview so everything was done in a haste. They interviewed me for 15 mins before offering me the job. People are cool to work with but management is bad.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Spectrum (New York, NY) in Aug 2018
Interview
The process started with a screening call from the recruiter. This call was painless, the recruiter was very personable and wanted to understand what I do in my current role and what I am looking for in my next role.
From there, he facilitated a phone call between the hiring manager and me. The hiring manager called in 15 minutes late - I had to follow up with the recruiter to confirm the call was still happening. Once they joined, it was a very pleasant chat mostly centering around my background and why I think I would be a good fit for the team.
Following that call, the recruiter scheduled an in-person interview with me. I showed up for the interview and the hiring manager came out 15 minutes late. Once we did meet, I simply walked into her office (which was incredibly cluttered and disorganized) and it became abundantly clear she had not prepped for my interview. I luckily had copies of my resume which I handed over to her. I had spent a significant amount of time preparing, but the questions all remained quite superficial and it did not require me to have knowledge of the industry or digital space. The hiring manager also informed me DURING THE INTERVIEW that the role had changed and it was going to be focusing on a different area of media than what I applied for.
Ultimately, I did not get the job because I did not have enough experience with the revised focus of the role. I would like to call out that I had to follow up over the course of two weeks to get a final answer on whether I had gotten the job, only to be rejected.
I applied online. I interviewed at Spectrum (Canton, OH) in Oct 2017
Interview
Though I passed extensive pre-screening exams and questionnaires and was told this last interview was a formality before starting training; I was rushed through the process and then ushered out through the back door. I believe it had to do with my ethnicity, as they seemed to have me wait to be interviewed by various others in the company that were of the same race and gender as I. I do not think they are open to hiring overly qualified individuals that may "threaten" their position in the company.
