Applied for the job online, heard back from them quickly, and was invited to an interview at their London office. The interview took the form of a half-hour task that involved selecting which journals would be suitable for a number of papers. This was followed by a discussion of the role, my suitability as a candidate, and scientific publishing generally.

The interview lasted 4 hours. They asked me to read three manuscripts and discuss them with the editorial team (4 persons). They finally asked me more personal questions (my motivation to pursue the career etc).

Im Vorfeld ein Editorial Test, danach insgesamt 3 Gespräche mit unterschiedlichen Personen (Editoren (Senior und Chief) genauso wie mit HR), davon eines vor Ort (face-to-face), eines online (Video) und eines Telefoninterview. Das Videointerview hat ca 3h gedauert. Es gab auch einen Live-test und Fragen von bis zu 3 Personen.

wissenschaftlicher Background, interesse am Job und am Fach allgemein, recht viel Detailwissen und Fragen nach persönlichen Schwächen. Man wird ernsthaft auf die Eignung als Editor getestet. Die Fragen sind fair, sinnvoll und versuchen einen aber schon in die Enge zu treiben. Keine "brainteaser"-Fragen...
