Twilio provides great communication throughout the interview process. It starts with a request to interview with a HR recruiter. It is followed up by hiring manger and then a series of peer interviews.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Twilio in Oct 2017
Interview
Phone interview with the recruiter
In person interview with 6 different people
The parking garages that the recruiter told me to park at were all full. It took me an extra 30 minutes to find open parking garage. I was early so it worked out. Two weeks after the in person interview, I followed up with the recruiter by email. She told me that she had an update for me and scheduled an appointment. After the recruiter missing 3 phone appointments, I never heard back from her. Since she never followed up with me and it has been over a month, I figured they are not interested in moving forward. I expect better follow-up even if they decision is not to move forward.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Questions were typical, tell me about your past experience.
Having to wait around not once, but three times, for a call is frustrating, not respectful of your time and unacceptable on our part. While the pace of our business can be hectic, we need to honor our appointments and respect peoples' time. Thank you for sharing your feedback and I will use it to train our team.
I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Twilio (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2015
Interview
Consisted of multiple rounds.
1. Phone interview with HR to see whether there is a high-level fit
2. Met with hiring manager to discuss the opportunity
3. Met with Engineering, Product Management, Product Marketing & Finance middle level managers to make sure that I am interested in the job and I can handle the work
4. Finally, over 6 hours, meeting with executives & HR as a final round of interviews. During this round, HR informed me that they the feedback from rounds 1-3 had been positive...
During the final round, HR, proactively informed me that they have been less professional in the past in informing candidates about outcomes and promised that they would revert back in a reasonable time frame.
After the final round of interviews, I didn't hear back anyone from the company for more than a month even after pinging the HR multiple times. Very unprofessional indeed even after knowing that they need to improve on that dimension.
