The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Ulta Beauty (Melbourne, FL) in Feb 2024
Interview
I had a first interview with a recruiting manager over zoom. She asked about my store manager experience and what was the highest volume I managed. She also asked about a time that I had received negative feedback and how I responded.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Ulta Beauty
Interview
Recruiting agency interviewed me for Ulta's Video Content Writer position. She told me if I were offered the position, I'd have to move from Florida to Illinois in 2 weeks. I was getting married in the next few weeks and asked if it was possible to push the move a month later instead. I asked if there would be a relocation fee to assist with such a speedy move.
Keep in mind that I haven't even had an interview with the team yet. The recruiter insisted that Ulta needed me to move sooner. After the lengthy writing assessment, I finally make it to the interview with the Creative Director which is where I learned that the video content role has now changed and they need someone for digital copywriting instead. I spoke with my recruiter and she told me "I'm not surprised that happened," which was another red flag to me.
Finally, let's talk about the offer. They told me in the initial stages anywhere from 60-70k was doable. Then they came back and told me they could only offer 53k, that they still wanted me to move ASAP but they couldn't offer a relocation fee or a bonus to assist because "it's against company policy." Additionally, they tried to convince me that the salary was fine because I wasn't even going to be living in the city, but the suburbs. I told them I needed 60k in order to accept the position. That's when I was ghosted.
