I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Ulta Beauty in May 2012
Interview
I had applied to Ulta about a week and a half ago. I got a call on Monday to plan for an interview today. I stood there waiting in the store longer then the interview actually took. The first question was what was your prior employment experiences (even though i had filled that out in the application- and she could see it right there)? I answered the question. Her follow up question was "why do you think selling clothes has anything to do with selling cosmetics"? I answered that the two didn't correlate but that i was interested in both and thats why i applied to Ulta. The third question was if i was in school. The fourth question was if i was okay with 8 to 23 hours per week. I only applied to the position because it said it was full time. The staff at the store were very impolite and questioned why i was there so much earlier then my interview was. At the end of the interview i was informed that others still had to be brought in for interviews, and if i were to hear anything it would be with in a week.

I applied through other source. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Ulta Beauty (Stockton, CA) in May 2012
Interview
I originally applied in january after being told that they were going to begin hiring soon. i filled out an application on line and called to follow up the next week. The general manager said they were going to send my resume to the district manager and would call me to let me know approximate start date. i call the following week and the GM says he has no record of me applying. I re apply . Then ,call to follow up the next week and they say they are not hiring, WTH. Then 3 weeks later i get a phone call asking me to come to an interview in 2 weeks. over all i would say this location is poorly ran. I seems to have a revolving door for management and no one knows whats going on. Definitely not the store for me.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Ulta Beauty in Mar 2012
Interview
After filling out an application and submitting a resume online, a recruiter called for a position open in my area, did phone interview, said my resume would be moved forward, then called to say all positions at that locations had been filled, but 2 other locations were going to opening in the near future so I was invited to a one on one interview with a district manager at a store location which went very well. She was very personable, the interview was about an hour long and we seemed to hit it off with each other. I was called one week later and offered the position.

There really weren't any difficult questions. I did my research ahead of time about the company and was prepared.
