I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Ulta Beauty (Tinley Park, IL) in Apr 2012
Interview
I was called and asked to meed at another location as the hiring manager had just been promoted to another store. I arrived a half hour before my interview time and was told to wait, a staff member came by and told me that the hiring manager was "Shocked I was early and was not ready at all." I waited till my scheduled appointment time and met with the hiring manager for 15 mins. She did not have a copy of my online application, and told me that they could not find it online either. I was asked about my previous jobs and then asked why I became an Esthetician and after that was asked if I have any questions.
I was not asked about my knowledge of the product lines or any other questions that signaled real potential for my employment at this Company
The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ulta Beauty (Wellington, FL) in Apr 2012
Interview
Let me start by saying that even though i applied to be a prestige consultant, i am now a hairstylist at Ulta. I filled out the app at ulta.com for a fulltime prestige consultant. I was called back about a week and a half later by a manager to attend a group interview and to wear all black (dress code) and a full face of makeup. I arrived the next day and i was to be interviewed wit about 5 other girls. we were kept waiting for about 10 minutes and were brought to the back to conduct the interview. We were only ask 3 questions: Why Ulta, what was our favorite makeup product, and why would we be a good fit for Ulta. I was less than impressed with the interview but whatever. I was called back 2 days later and was told they thought i would be a good fit. I didnt live in the area yet so a week later when i moved, i went to meet with the manager that called me. he told me they were NOT hiring for full time and suggested i work in the salon since i am a licensed stylist and a makeup artist. side note: if anyone applys at ulta thinking their going to be doing full faces of makeup everyday, they are sadly mistaken. only the salon does full faces. at my location anyway. the consultants mostly do color matcing and stuff. lame. theyre really strict about stealing. you have to have a manager check you out if you buy something, check your CLEAR bag when you keave (they make you carry a clear bag) and anything that youd bring to work (cosmetic wise) needs to have a green mark on it that a manager has to make because if they catch you with something that isnt green dotted, they will fire you on the spot. when i went in and spoke to the salon manager, she was very nice and explain everything to me. in my area stlist start at 43% or $8, whatever is greater. there are opportunities to advance and when you do your commission goes up. and it isnt hard to advance. I had to bring in a model and do highlights, cut, and style and she immediately hired me. It was a long annoying process and there was a minor lack of communication but not as bad as everyone makes me seem. we'll see how it goes...

Interview
I applied to Ulta online as was contacted about a week later to come in for an interview. When I arrived, there was one other girl there being interviewed for the same position. I was not aware that is was going to be a double interview. We went to the back with a manager and she asked us the basic questions such as why we wanted to work there, what motivates us, and example of good and bad customer service, and a time when we had to use teamwork. She then informed us of what the job would be like if we got hired and what we would be responsible to do. She also asked if we knew anything about makeup. I know a little bit and that is what she I said. We were told if we didn't know anything that was okay. She did'y either when she first started, but we would quickly learn, so don't let that part intimidate you. The whole thing was very casual and relaxed. After she told us she would try to contact us that night, and if not in the next few days. I was called the following day by another manager on her behalf and was offered a position starting at $8.25. I accepted it and was asked to come in the next afternoon to get some of the basic paperwork out of the way. I haven't had my first day yet, but it is looking good and I am excited to start!
