I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at X (Cambridge, MA) in Feb 2016
Interview
Several phone interviews took place with both the hiring manager and other members of the team. Some were quite technical, others more discussing the team and its mandate. They used an online coding platform, but most interviewers did not use the features.

Interview
Got a hackerrank challenge after applying online. It took about 2 hours to finish. Didn't get a call back. I emailed a follow up but it didn't come back. Overall positive experience
i just did the first stage of Twitter Software Engineer Intern Application - the Twitter coding challenge. There were three questions in the challenge, first one was to write a database query, the other two to code in your favorite language. One of the coding questions was quite easy, just make sure not to make small mistakes. The other one was much harder, and it me several hours to come up with an efficient solution. The database question was very easy I think, as I knew nothing about databases, but did it in an hour googling how sql works.

Question 1
The easy programming question said that there is a message that is encoded by shifting only letters by a number from 0 to 9 which is obtained from a number. They gave you an encoded message, told what is the decoded version of a part of it, and asked to write a function which would decode any message which is encoded by the number obtained.
