Pros

I find that there are many opportunities within ABB. Working in a corporate location (i.e. not a plant), there are many opportunities to move laterally and upwards across multiple functions. It is not uncommon for people to work in Finance, but then move into HR or SCM or other function. Within Finance there are opportunities within AP, AR, GA, Treasury, Real Estate, Corporate Accounting, etc. The people are friendly and the work hours are reasonable (I wouldn't have said this 7-10 years ago).

Cons

Bullies are often promoted (especially women) and low performers have the most job security. 2% per year in US - barely covers inflation. Company loyalty is strong as many people have been with the company for 15+ years. While this could be a pro, it seems more of a con as these people do not see the benefit of change which is needed.

Pros

Large, stable company, middle of the road salary and benefits, good place to work if you are looking for an international adventure, mix of low and high tech, so might be a way for someone to get into high tech

Cons

Very slow moving, hierarchical European management style, people run around scared to stick their neck out. A conglomeration of low tech and high tech products and they struggle mightily trying to do the higher tech stuff.

Pros

Good company with a good work atmosphere. Most of the supervisors and great!

Cons

The corporate office has forced "wokeness" on the plant. Women are complaining about sharing a bathroom and shower with a transgender male. I don't blame them. One women told me she "would never use the restroom in the plant again! ABB has told us to not "turn the other way" when there is a problem. This is a problem. It seems that DEI doesn't include the natural modesty/dignity of women. Or their chastity and virtue. Exposing themselves to a transgender male is offensive to most women. I really like this company, it has been a blessing to me and my family for many years. Unfornately due to the transgender issue, (I have cross dressing friends whom I love) I would not recommend someone working here. I don't see any hatred in anyone but just a desire for privacy. One lady told me that management said "if she has a problem with sharing a bathroom with a transgender male that they would provide a special bathroom for her". She said, I don't want a "special bathroom, I just want to be able to use the female bathrooms!" It isn't fair to the women in our plant. Most people understand that. Thanks.
