Pros

Best training in the industry! The proof? After 3-6 months, all recruiting agencies will offer you jobs monthly. It can be a really fun atmosphere. We regularly threw stress balls at each other in "The Pit". Happy hours too if you like that. Decent job in that you get a salary and benefits are good. The fact that you can voice your opinion to your manager is healthy.

Cons

Money can by tolerance towards just about anything at a job. A top earner will make roughly 40-46k/year if they are lucky. How did i get this? Here are the facts: 33k base but it's a draw so you pay it through commissions Commissions is off spread. Spread is % off company mark up Example: You hire an engineer at the average salary of 70k/year Aerotek charges 50% on top of that so they make 35k over a 3 month contract Your weekly spread on that engineer is $1,500!!! But you actually get 3% of the $1,500 So you get an additional $45 bucks a week added to your salary. But you have to pay the salary back so you to have $3,000 in spread to cover your base salary So you only get that $45 bucks if that $1,500 is in addition to your $3,000 spread. A VERY GOOD RECRUITER IS 10k in spread a week A 10k recruiter (which i was) must subtract 3k (to cover your salary) and then take 3% of 7k Thats roughly $210 bucks added to your $750 salary pay check Thats $960/week BUT WAIT, theres more!: You work 55 hours a week (off the record) So as a top earner take $960/week and divide by 55 hours Thats $17/hour There's the TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAIT!!! There's more!!!!! I gave you engineer recruiter numbers. If you go Professional or Commercial services, you get way less and thus you need much higher volume in which case you will need 40-60 contractors on your books every week.

Recruiter

Pros

Very friendly and up beat environment. Great benefits. The training is very well structured and detailed. Every time a team member accomplishes something the whole team celebrates their success and never goes unnoticed.

Cons

They over work their employees, they don't have any respect or values for their employees work life balance. working 70-80 hours a week is common there, and weekends and no over time pay. You are also required to work during your lunch by going on meetings. If you don't meet your daily or weekly goals they look down upon you. They make it seem like there is lots of room for growth within the organization, but the only way to move up is doing sales. They don't want any of their employee's to stay as recruiters but rather train them into sales even if the employee is a good recruiter and enjoys recruiting. They brain wash their employees and enslave them.

Great 1st Job

Pros

Awesome training with both virtual and hands on. They allow you to expense lunches for both internal and contractors. They have tons of office perks like pin pong tables, corn hole, hockey tables, stress balls, pens, Keurig Machine, blankets, and all the office supplies you can imagine. They hire mostly recent college grads, so the atmosphere is young and fun. Happy hours are awesome, especially when you go to little woodrows for the wings and fried mac n cheese, until they break into your car, but that only happened to 4 of us, yikes! Met some awesome people and made some lifelong friends here.

Cons

Income Potential, I Repeat POTENTIAL. Did both recruiting and account manager for over 3 years and in that time saw over 100 people leave the company just in the Houston area which are three offices. Recruiting is where everyone starts and your assigned to an account manager and aligned to those skill sets. Your success is based on how much effort the account manager puts in. Some struggles would be the constant turn over with account managers and recruiters, the biggest factor to turn over was due to clicks that were formed in the office. You must go with the flow to become successful or even promoted. Ive seen individuals passed on due to them not being with the right crowd. There is a lot of politics in the offices on how people come dressed, attitude, and if they stay late. Hours are from 7:30-6pm and if you were running late in the morning, they would question your commitment and blow it out of proportion. If you were to leave right at 6 same thing would happen, questions the commitment. Favoritism is influenced by their decisions on whether or not to let individuals go. They start all recruiters salary at 33k plus commission and after a year they bump up to 36k plus commission. For account managers they start off at 36k plus commission & car allowance $300 monthly, then after a year your base will drop to 33k in hopes that your business will be where it should be. Pay and politics is the biggest reason why they lose great people. Best advice I received was get in and put in the time to get offers from other companies that value their employees, all other companies love people from Aerotek because of the great training and know that people get burned out there and are not appreciated. You will be forced to recommend a friend to work there, but honestly, I didn't want my friends to go thru all the headaches I went thru when I worked there.
