Pros

There are some good account managers out there, otherwise this place will ruin you.

Cons

Where to begin... I would only recommend working here if you have absolutely no life outside of work. Hours are 7:30-5:30 however if you leave before 6:30 you get nasty looks from all the people in the office who have drank the Koolaid. This isn’t recruiting, its sales/telemarketing. If you don’t make ____ amount of calls a day you will be given “feedback” telling you to pick up the phone. They do not want to hear that you are only trying to find qualified candidates, they just want you to contact everyone in their database regardless of their background and try to pry every last bit of information from them regarding their work situation. If you have a day where people aren’t answering your calls, somehow it’s your fault for not talking to enough people. You will be heavily micromanaged and expected to perform at the same level as people who have been doing it for years, even though you’ve been there for 4 weeks and only making $12 an hour. You are just a number to them.

Mistreated by company.

Pros

I do not have any.

Cons

Mistreating their employees. I was supposed to transfer to a different location after maternity leave due to spouses military orders. Was told everything was good to go for my transfer before going on maternity leave and was not going to have to interview again. Upon arriving to new location I was told my transfer was denied and now HR is saying I resigned. I never quit and the company had me in limbo for weeks before ending my employment and paying out PTO. I would not recommend this company!

Pros

Along with many Aerotek Recruiters, this was my first true corporate job out of college. I learned a lot of valuable skills that I carried with me to my next employer. I learned to have a sense of urgency, to always be on time and prepared for meetings, how to communicate, time block and stay organized etc. along with the basics of the recruiting process. At times, we had a lot of fun in my office and I made some amazing friends along the way.

Cons

That being said... the majority of the time, the work environment was extremely toxic. The amount of drama and rule breaking was incredible. It's like high school and college mixed together in the worst way possible. There were inappropriate relationships going on between recruiters AND between "managers" and recruiters. Aerotek LOVES to party and celebrate their wins, which could be seen as a pro but they take it way too far. In terms of the actual work, it was very competitive and not easy to hit the goals they have set. Unless you cheat the process, are dishonest, steal candidates from other recruiters and generally lack morals, it is difficult to make any sort of commission. And if you are not at commission level, you aren't valuable to them and they WILL phase you out of the company. If you want to be valued for your quality of work and professionalism, this is not the environment for you. If all you care about is making money and don't mind stepping all over your colleagues and candidates to make it happen, you may see more success here. Regardless of how I feel about this company, things will never change because this is a SALES environment. If you are looking to get into recruiting, put in your 1-2 years and then move into an internal recruiting position.
