Pros

- Friendly and supportive colleagues. In general, there is a very nice atmosphere in the company, everyone feels welcome, and people are happy to help everyone out. - Good first step into the industry if you are junior level. - Chance to work on some exciting projects and AAA titles. - Great workplace if you are passionate about making hair. - Great IT support, and the company was pretty good with setting up remote work during the pandemic.

Cons

- Certain tools and workflows are outdated and could be optimized. As a result, artists end up doing a lot of manual, time-consuming tasks. - Management can sometimes be unorganized. -Sometimes it was very difficult to communicate with the management. Would need to wait a long time for their response to simple questions or requests. - An imbalance between roles - the company was hiring too many junior-level artists. Junior artists are not always getting proper training, very 'learn as you go' feeling, which can be stressful during crunch time. Senior artists would often feel overworked due to having too many junior artists to supervise. - Junior-level character artists are not always given a variety of character-related tasks. They can get scheduled to do hair-related tasks only, for months, which can be demotivating.

Great People, terrible HR and Upper Management

Pros

- Great Industry Entry: Excellent for gaining initial experience in the gaming sector. - Varied Clients: Work with a diverse range of clients and projects. - Talented Colleagues: Collaborate with skilled artists and producers. - Fast Learning: Strong learning opportunities to quickly develop skills.

Cons

- Terrible HR Practices (being generic): HR is incredibly unresponsive and dismissive, showing little to no genuine concern for employee well-being. They are primarily focused on numbers and creating a positive image for themselves and the higher-ups, rather than actually supporting the staff. The communication from HR feels like a series of insincere LinkedIn-style platitudes. When real issues arise, they often ignore employees or give vague, non-committal responses, deflecting questions to managers to buy themselves time. Their approach is passive-aggressive and unhelpful, making it clear that they view employees as expendable rather than valuable members of the team. - Lack of Transparency: Company decisions are often vague, leading to low levels of trust. - Minimal Employee Support: Long-term employees aren’t valued when facing issues; HR treats everyone as replaceable. - No Transport Assistance: The company provides no financial support for commuting expenses. - No Remote Work Compensation: There is no reimbursement for extra electricity costs incurred while working from home.

I truly hope it gets better

Pros

I have met the nicest, most talented and caring artists and producers at this company, and those people will remain the best memories I have of my time at Airship. Every single person loves the incredible art they produce, and that alone is tremendously motivating.

Cons

I will not detail every single issue, as the C-suite is aware of all of those, yet they seem to have trouble acknowledging and solving them. However, the main ones are distrust of the C-suite and a huge lack of communication between departments. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this company to anyone at this time. I truly wish for things to improve, and for the C-suite to face and address the employees' complaints. Between the bad decisions and the disregard for the employee's well-being and mental health - it is not worth the stress and the low morale.
