Pros

There are a lot of very bright enthusiastic people working for AkzoNobel. As result it’s easy to experience the synergy of this multinational company and to connect with colleagues who are willing to support you.

Cons

AkzoNobel tends to underinvest in its people and its facilities and gloss things over. Continuous improvement is top-down, one size fits all. As a result depth of knowledge is not valued and overall performance falls short.

Weak management, good staff not rewarded. Its not what you know its who you know.

Quite good job security, good employee benefit schemes. Acheivable bonus schemes.

Cons

Weak management, too much focus on the ever changing strategy, no chance of progression, staff leave but are never replaced, total lack of training and development for low level staff, too many layers of management, cost cutting is destroying staff morale, management never listen to employee concerns, too many unsuitable systems introduced in the guise of cost cutting, engagement survey a total waste of time and effort.

Good benefits, and working for a global company is good experience to gain.

Cons

Antiquated systems, multiple layers of bureaucracy, and toxic, political environment in Chicago office. Innovation is stifled by waiting for permission from HQ in Europe before any action can be taken in US on even the smallest scale. Inept management.
