Pros

So much restructuring and poor management that you can fly under the radar and get by without doing anything productive. Competitve benifits, but if the minimum wage goes to 12 bucks an hour I will put an application in at McDonald's. Oputunities to have work delegated to you by europeans. Time to self reflect and wonder what you did wrong in this life or your previous life to end up here. Good insurance, you will be able to afford name brand antideppresents. Which is good for the company because you will need something stronger in your cup to get out of bed Monday through friday. There are so many failures and mistakes that yours will be unnoticed. You would think your successes would not go unnoticed.

Cons

Unable to use your skills in a way that can benifit the organization. Managment does not have the time or apptitude to discuss and plan projects with any reasoable amount of foresight. More to the point the organization is trying to survive instead of thrive. An average working day is just like the Walking Dead, but with more zombies and fewer resources to go around. The harder you work at the company the more demotivated you will become. It is likely that any successful work you do will be undone because every system and businesse unit is dysfunctional. However most projects fail before leaving technical anyways due to a lack of planning and thinking. This likely saves the company money by avoiding customer lawsuits down the road. Possibly a factor in their cost savings matrix. The job is so depressing and unrewarding that you will contemplate stopping your car on the railroad tracks at least once a week on your way to work.

Pros

-Job experience working at a large company -Experience working with a diverse workforce -Benefits (although these have been reduced in the past year)

Cons

-Culture is unfriendly and not happy -One or two social events a year, everything is work, work, work -Employees are a resource and are very expendable; layoffs are common as the company is in a perpetual state of reconstruction -Work takes forever to get done due to so many "controls" in place; unnecessarily cumbersome processes -Few young people work in the company and this is a major issue as they have a hard time attracting and retaining young talent (probably somewhat related to negative culture) -Limited growth potential as there are few positions available and any positions that get filled usually end up with those employees stay in those positions until retirement -Pay is "competitive" meaning they'll pay you the market rate and nothing more. Getting a raise is also difficult as there are many steps in the process and asking your manager is just the first of many people who need to approve the raise.

Pros

The people based at Felling are still a great bunch of people to be around, however these numbers are dwindling. Some benefits for working to Akzo but very few perks. Flexible working environment.

Cons

The company is on a mission to outsource as many of its functions as it possibly can, this has lead to invoicing, IT and HR systems that are well below the standards required for so called market leaders. The general feeling around the site is one of discontent, with many people feeling as if redundancy is not too far away as the company will no doubt be looking to make further cuts to increase their profit margins. If you aren't based in Holland then you generally will not get anywhere within the IT department, very little chance of career progression. Quite happy to hold people down and refuse them payrises for promotions etc.
