Pros

The money if you are a top performer in sales is brilliant

Cons

American Express made leadership changes in 2021 who came in and completely destroyed the culture and the trust of the employees, upwards of 50% of the team left to a direct competitor as leadership removed incentive payments and changed commission structures giving people 50% pay cuts with 24 hours warning, there has been a mass exodus to the same competitor and despite the efforts of middle management the suggested changes to try to retain staff were ignored.

Pros

- Clean "Closed loop" data: Really great to work with good quality data for successful campaigns - No compromise on Brand image and quality of work is the best in the industry - Truly customer focused company: Makes working on projects fun and meaningful - Work environment is extremely professional, and a lot of opportunities for mentorship

Cons

- Teams have lots of cliques, if you're not part of one, you are not on the growth track - Very hierarchical, employees are micro-managed - Non-competitive pay (had loads of retention issues) - Pay increases are very slim if any at all - Very political, open conversations between colleagues around pay and growth are discouraged. Grading system between same band employees can be unfair at times, often rewarding someone who is on a prority project vs someone who truly deserves the recognition.
