Pros

None come to mind at the moment.

Cons

The manner in which a company treats its employees during an economic crisis is a more accurate reflection of the company's actual values and culture, rather than what it may claim to prioritize. During the pandemic, and even since, Assurant was at the forefront in caring for their employees and their safety. Now, at the first sign of an inclimate economy, their first action is a reduction in forces. Now, many would say that this is expected, and to be fair, Assurant hasn't been laying off employees. Rather they're "restructuring". This restructuring is at the expense of individuals who have spent a majority of their careers at Assurant, and helping the company get where it is today. In the last 30 days, I've seen them 1. Mark a position as redundant, forcing out someone who had spent 31 years with the company. 2. "Restructure" roles to force three others out who had been with the company for many years. 3. Shows zero compassion or appreciation for the work that these individuals, or others that have left, have done, or their contributions in a company wide communication. The way that Assurant has approached just this handful of instances nauseates me.

Pros

Only thing I can say that was good about this company is the benefits.

Cons

There are so many of these I don't think I would be allowed to type all of it so let me just sum it up. Poor training, horrible attendance policy, very unprofessional management, lack of growth and understanding. I am currently doing an investigation on them because I was unpaid for a whole month was told it would be deposited in the following month but still haven't received a dime of the money I worked hard to get.

Toxic Culture Enabled at the Highest Levels

Pros

Compensation in corporate roles is competitive—likely because it’s one of the few ways to retain talent in an otherwise toxic environment.

Cons

In my direct experience, this company fosters a toxic work environment—one that is well-known internally, yet consistently overlooked or downplayed by leadership. The CEO appears aware of the dysfunction, but rather than addressing it, the focus often seems to be on optics. Instead of meaningful cultural improvements, the company highlights paid industry awards that claim it's “innovative,” “friendly,” or a “great place to work”—titles that, to many employees, feel completely disconnected from reality. There’s also a troubling pattern of mixed messaging. Publicly, remote work is promoted as a benefit; internally, leadership expresses a desire to have everyone back in the Atlanta office. These contradictions leave employees confused and distrustful. Leadership decisions often feel misaligned with outcomes. Individuals responsible for failed strategies are promoted, while broader teams are laid off. Leaders who couldn’t execute on their own strategies are still publicly celebrated. The message this sends is disheartening: performance and accountability appear secondary to internal politics and image management. This is the kind of company that talks a lot about D&I, but the internal experience tells a different story. It's performative—and that gives real D&I work a bad reputation. It was a difficult and disappointing 5+ years chapter.
