An Almost Perfect Place to Work

Pros

Blizzard pays very well for most of their positions. I'm sure entry-level roles may not agree, but I've been exceptionally compensated in the jobs I've held at the company. The benefits are also top notch. In addition to all of this, the coworkers and the overall job culture are by far and away the best I've ever experienced, both in the games industry and in other industries.

Cons

It's in California. State taxes are brutal, housing prices are ludicrous, and I genuinely don't enjoy any part about living here. If it weren't for Blizzard being such an exceptional company, I'd have moved right back out of this state.

Pros

Amazing Culture, smart people. Very relaxed and casual.

Cons

The pay is really low and this is coming from a Software Engineer. I am so passionate about Blizzard and video games, but the salary is at the point where I'm not going to sacrifice my livelihood for my passion. The salaries are seriously lagging the market. One can only hope that Blizzard sees these reviews.

Rollar coaster career life

Pros

The community of people there is amazing and very diverse, easy to make friends with your co-workers. Fun company events such as parties in Las Vegas, annual company picnics and champagne celebrations. Playing and talking about video games at work.

Cons

Lower salary compensation for the first several (1-5 years of employment. Senior status drastically increases wages. Profit sharing can be a large part of your annual compensation and this varies enough to be unreliable. Immature business practices create impossible deadlines resulting in months and months of crunch work (60-70+ hour work weeks). Treatment and career advancement of women in the workplace are poor at best. HR department is under developed and ineffective.
