Where to start. The work is increasingly mundane, project management related work. We are quickly becoming another boring government contractor. The quality of new hires has been suspect. I am embarrassed by it. Morale is low. And we are going public, and with that comes a new focus on utilization. If you want to expand your career, well, you can't since you are expected to be fully utilized. And what about input on what type of work you want to do? Gone. As I said above, I LOVED this place...but I guess all good things come to an end. It's too bad the partners have sold the firm out for their own personal wealth. It's disgusting, but I don't blame them. They stand to make a lot of money with the upcoming IPO. Great for them, crappy for all the hardworking, great people who have given their lives to their work.

The nature of consulting requires flexibility on the part of the consultant with regards to workplace location, project subject matter, and travel. Consulting may not be a good fit for those looking for a more stable work/life balance.
