Pros

Cadence is a very relaxed place to work. There is not much work pressure. Plus, it is the market leader in the field.

Cons

The growth opportunities at Cadence are very limited. Since the company doesnt make new products. If you work on the R & D division, it is pretty much bug fixing. There is not much use of creative talent. Needless to say this attracts people who have a very fixed mind set.

Pros

Good pay, flexible work schedule, challenging work.

Cons

lack of leadership from top level management,. "siloed" development organizations makes it difficult to work across organizations. Top level management provide very little support or direction for underlying technology. This in combination with the "siloed" development structure creates organizationally broken buisness structures for product line which cut across these development organizations.

Pros

The first line managers a great. The work can be rewarding and challenging. Depending upon your position, you can have the freedom to work with other teams and explore diverse opportunities within your job function. There's a good amount of employee support for a job well done. Recognition of achievements is good. Team contributions are rewarded. There's a good amount of flexibility given when you need personal time. As long as you get the job done, you're paid fairly and rewarded well. The managers are the backbone of the company - they provide most of the HR related needs to employees.

Cons

There's not much opportunity for growth in career over the past several years. With the acquisitions over the years, there's no strong or dominant company culture. Cadence is looking for it's strength as #1 in the EDA industry again. There's a good amount of questioning the senior management team about their plans for how Cadence will face it's current challenges and move back into the #1 EDA position. But, we're not given a good answer on the direction or how we'll accomplish this. The employee morale is low. A solid direction and good execution is what's needed to grow Cadence.
