Pros

Cargill Metals, as a leading international ferrous metals physical trading house, offers unmatched access to both physical and financial markets.

Cons

1. Career Opportunities: The career landscape at Cargill Metals feels like a battlefield, where the motto "outlast others to save oneself" reigns supreme. It’s not about growth or development—it’s about outlasting your colleagues in a game of corporate survival. For those not in the prized Book Manager or Physical Trader roles, the path to advancement is like climbing a ladder with missing rungs. The constant reorganization and internal strife create an environment where career progress is more a matter of endurance than merit. 2. Compensation and Benefits: Compensation at Cargill Metals is a double-edged sword. While the potential for high bonuses exists, it’s tied to a ruthless, short-term focus that prioritizes personal gain over company health. Senior management and key traders might be reaping rewards, but for many, the anticipation of a severance package upon being fired looms large—almost as if collecting that package is the endgame. The result is a culture of short-sighted ambition, where everyone is keeping one eye on the door, waiting for their turn to exit with a golden handshake. 3. Culture and Values: The culture at Cargill Metals can best be described as toxic, with an undercurrent of distrust and self-preservation. It’s a place where the phrase "divide and conquer" is taken literally, and "painting a big, empty picture" is the management’s go-to strategy. Values like integrity, cooperation, and long-term thinking have been sacrificed on the altar of immediate profit and personal gain. Employees are more likely to view each other as competitors in a zero-sum game than as teammates working towards a common goal. 4. Diversity and Inclusion: In such a cutthroat environment, diversity and inclusion seem to be afterthoughts, if they’re considered at all. The internal divisions and lack of collaboration suggest that any initiatives aimed at fostering an inclusive culture are likely overshadowed by the pervasive "us versus them" mentality. Diversity of thought and collaboration, which could bring fresh perspectives and innovation, are likely stifled in favor of conformity and self-preservation. 5. Senior Management: Senior management at Cargill Metals comes across as a group more interested in maintaining their positions and maximizing their compensation than in leading the company to success. Their approach, heavy on impressive PowerPoint presentations and light on substance, speaks to a leadership disconnected from the realities of the industry. This lack of genuine direction and experience results in frequent, disruptive changes that leave employees feeling like pawns in a game they have no control over. 6. Work / Life Balance: Work/life balance at Cargill Metals is practically non-existent, with employees expected to devote themselves entirely to the company’s short-term goals. The high-pressure environment, driven by constant change and a relentless focus on P&L, leaves little room for personal time or well-being. For many, the only relief comes from the hope of eventually receiving a severance package—if they can survive long enough to get there. It’s a place where burnout is almost inevitable, and where personal sacrifices are seen as just another cost of doing business.

Silent layoffs and lack of empathy

Recommend
Business Outlook

Pros

There is good people sadly they are not even close to the ones taking decisions

Cons

Be careful when applying, there are layoffs in all locations even of recently hired people. Plus there's lack of opportunities, terrible leadership, preference towards unskilled workers on engineering for US while heavily outsourcing wrongly. There is also RTO, and office is overcrowded and super lousy.

Pros

They allow virtual or hybrid jobs but that may change with new managent.

Cons

Dont follow a lot of rules due to them being private and the family gets most of the money. People will be laid off while the family gets if not equal or more money than they have.
