Pros

-if you’re a trader you can do well here. Everyone else recommend view your time at this company as a resume builder. -talented people still exist, coworkers were the best part of my time there. Unfortunately many are no longer there. -many different businesses for career exploration -huge multinational player with influence in many markets -pay and benefits competitive but not outstanding -looks good on resume, I learned a lot and developed quite a bit in my career that prepared me for my next step. -recent layoffs bring opportunities for young professionals

Cons

-culture is a shadow of what it was when I started decade+ ago. Some Individual people managers may still care but I can assure you the company does not despite whatever plateaus are leveled to the employees. Totally untrustworthy leadership. -privately held is a double edge. The next generation of family is clearly focused on their annual payout and eating up whatever BS the executives are feeding them. Health of business and pride in company is secondary. You used to see family members actively involved in the company, that’s but a distant memory. -This company makes billions and yet the message over and over is to plead poverty. -Sustainability is a buzzword but not a lot of concrete evidence it’s taken seriously. Really good at deflecting scrutiny in this area.

Pros

Strong, privately held company that generally performs well. Use to treat employees well and had a long-term outlook on things. Generally great people that you'll work with on a daily basis. Good work-life balance. Lots of room for movement, even without moving locations

Cons

New CEO/management is changing the culture. Much more near-term focused and focused strongly on following what consultants say. Extremely consensus driven so everything takes a LONG time (and has to be approved by everyone in the food chain). Employees are not enabled to make decisions quickly. The gears of Cargill turn very slow and low performers are not moved out but rather succeed because of the internal network and move around (i.e. fail up)

Pros

Great coworkers and challenging work.

Cons

Many employees have recently taken on multiple roles without receiving pay raises. Middle managers lack the authority to make effective decisions, while upper leadership continues to implement misguided strategies without understanding the business intricacies. Several colleagues have been assigned significantly more responsibilities but have been informed that they will not receive appropriate compensation or reclassification for their work. Additionally, many have experienced a reduction in pay bands and are expected to accept it without complaint. In my professional experience, I have never witnessed such poor treatment as I have in the past year. Cargill is attempting to transform into a marketing powerhouse, a major departure from its origins as a supply chain company and the current talent it possesses. This transition will be challenging, even if successful, as there are no concrete plans in place at this time.
