Pros

A very nice facility with many amenities. People from other departments were very friendly. Nice cafeteria with many options for breakfast and lunch.

Cons

Supervisors were a little too proud of their positions. All authority with no leadership. Company processes and information were protected like the crown jewels. No one really wanted to provide help or info to reach goals or finish projects. People within the department I worked in avoided me like the plague. Hard to fit in when you are treated like the threatening outsider. Other than the profit margins, Cargill does not have a lot of deep dark secrets but the staff acts as if they are working on the Manhattan project.

Pros

Cargill places a lot of value on serving the communities in which they operate. They benefits are good, although, the health insurance benefits have decreased over the years. Depending on your manager and the team you work for, there are opportunities to work from home. It is a great place to work if you want experience working on a global team. They really work at being a company with a diverse culture. In many companies that I have worked for, the amount of women in IT was scarce. Cargill is the first company that I worked for that not only had a greater number of women in IT, but they had women in IT management roles. Great co-workers. People look out for each other and really have a desire to see their team and team members succeed. Excellent opportunities for advancement

Cons

Do not work here if you are in IT. There are a significant number of middle level managers that "manage up". They are more concerned with how they look to upper management, and are not as concerned about the people that work for them. IT is their policy to pay to industry standards, but I have found that they tend to pay lower. However, that could be just my experience.

Pros

The food industry is very dynamic, depending on where you are inside the company there are always new challenges: food safety, product development, etc It is a huge company with 70+ businesses, so there are opportunities to move domestically and internationally

Cons

Very conservative company - things are done in a same way for a very long time and if " they are not broken no need to fix them " - new ideas are not very well received It is a global company with a very limited view of the world, you can have several peers in different regions of the globe doing the same function, but you won't talk to them. You're ability to move can be very limited, some businesses don't like when people leave and prevent you from interviewing for different jobs.
