The High Expectations can be stressful at times. Especially when dealing with customers with their own subjectiveness and biases. But don't let these cons be a deterrent to seeking employment with Cengage.

Not good for long term employment, raises do not keep up with even half of general cost of living inflation. Disappointing pay bands.

Beware of Constant Reorgs and Lay offs

Pros

The work life balance is great, benefits are solid, good time off and holidays.

Cons

The Company is constantly doing reorgs and layoffs. I was with the company a short time and executive positions were consistently changing. I do think the company has potential, but is very disorganized. Additionally, it feels as though people are treated as disposable and they do not deliver on the culture they preach when during the hiring process. It feels like leaders are very scatterbrained and do not think through decisions. They just make them and do not really appear to care about the consequences. I do think there is truth to the positive reviews and that it can actually be a great place to work. That said, you have no idea if you are signing on to a great and cohesive team or a disorganized and disconnected team.
