Pros

The office is very nice and modern, with great views from some locations. There's even a shaded outdoor balcony offering a pleasant place to eat lunch on warm days. The neighborhood is off the beaten path in a new office development area, so everything is super clean, quiet, and calm. It is like a suburban island surrounded by a city.

Cons

Working here feels like being a prisoner on a sinking ship constant restructuring and layoffs. No career advancement opportunities. If you are one of the lucky few to get a promotion, you will be next on the layoff list because of your (tiny) bump in pay. When someone is laid off, frequently a very similar job is posted with a slightly different job title and a much lower salary. Meanwhile, employees that remain with the company are doing more work for the same pay and fewer benefits. Everyone I know is looking for jobs with other companies, especially in other industries.

Pros

- Many people are smart, kind, and motivated - Work-life balance is good - working 45+ hours makes you a rockstar - The mission is meaningful

Cons

- The old boys network leads to bad management decisions and sexism - A lot of work is done because of who is friends, not the business value of the work. In particular, the SOA project has wasted a lot of time and caused many of the highest performing people to quit in frustration. Though it continues to be behind schedule and disorganized, its leader is rewarded. - Business units compete for revenue and the same tech resources, leading to competition and politics instead of collaboration - Raises are laughably small and based on company performance instead of individual performance

Pros

My immediate and same-level colleagues are great. We trust each other and realize we're all in this together at the moment.

Cons

Senior Management either has no idea what they're doing, doesn't have the right information, or doesn't take the time to listen to their people. The health insurance is the worst I've seen in the industry. It's difficult to find a reason for working when those who sweet talk the right people, but don't actually get anything done are praised, while those who honestly and earnestly work hard and long aren't recognized or appreciated, but instead blocked from completing work. There are few actual processes to follow in Product Management. You have to figure it out or reinvent the wheel almost every time you try to get something done.
