      Cengage has: -Talented, committed, and innovative people -Team-oriented -Flexible work schedule [in my function] -Stable work environment [in many functions] -Good benefits -Low turnover in many function areas

      Cengage has: -A lot of transitions and reorgs within the company due to its current financial restructuring which have negatively impacted morale -Depending on function, not enough opportunities to advance because of an abundance of talent

      Pros

      There is a growing spirit of optimism pervasive throughout the organization, and the belief that if we can just make it through these awkward times, things will get better and glory days will be seen again. The leadership under the new CEO is extremely encouraging; he instills a lot of confidence throughout the ranks. Through and through, it has been the people that keep employees there; when times are tough and nothing seems to make sense, individuals can often be heard expressing their appreciation for the high quality of people-managers and colleagues-they are surrounded by.

      Cons

      Cengage Learning is a very supportive and nurturing environment. It has its flaws, including lack of training, cohesiveness, organization, and unified strategy but at least the last three are getting better.

      Great people--smart, talented, innovative, hardworking, professional, collaborative, efficient, caring, and friendly. Constant cross-functional work. Company goal is appropriate for the ever-changing higher education market.

      Cons

      Constant C-level leadership changes affecting all departments (3 within the last 1 1/2 years) has not allowed employees to settle into their roles and to see the fruits of their labor, contributing to low morale.
