      Pros

      Engagement, empowerment and a an executive staff focused on where it should be...the student. This company has taken a big chance on focusing on the student instead of the sale or the instructor. Students have realized that they are a consumer and have the ultimate power in any educational company's success. Cengage has recognized this. They are engaging their employees to become a part of the solution which ultimately makes you want to work harder.

      Cons

      Challenges are the same for all companies in this industry. It is a time of change and transition. There will always be pains when dealing with industry change.

      Pros

      I've seen a lot of ups and downs in the organization, and I feel the direction we're heading with the new Senior Management, the shift to concentrate more on digital and a more comprehensive list is the way to go.

      Cons

      If I had to say anything negative, it would be that I wish all senior management (especially some who have been with the Company for some time) would be as genuine, open-minded and fair as the new executive management.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts. This week in Chicago I met with about 60 senior leaders as part of our Leaders of Change initiative. We talked about business performance, strategy and, very importantly, our culture. I emphasized the importance of transparency, as well as uniting behind our values of focus, collaboration, and speed. We have definitely made progress, but I agree with you – there is a distance to go, and we’re working together to address it. Thanks for being with us on the journey.
