      No real complaints.

      Pros

      Managers generally trust their assistants so they let you work autonomously. Marketing in particular was very dynamic. I enjoyed working on a variety of projects. One day I'd be sitting in front of an excel sheet, the next I'd be planning and decorating a convention booth.

      Cons

      The company is going through a transitional period and some employees are unsure of their footing. My department underwent a reorganization after the sale that many were unhappy about. The location is also very difficult to access via public transportation.

      Cengage Learning -- Not a bad job but some definite drawbacks.

      Pros

      Great benefits package including company car, phone, computer, T&E, health & retirement. Great bonuses if you produce. National Sales Meetings have some enjoyable elements. Opportunity to advance if you're willing to relocate.

      Cons

      Salary is low unless you produce and reach upper bonus tiers. Work schedule is heavy during sales season, 60 - 70 hour work weeks aren't uncommon. Some communication breakdown from upper management.

      Pros

      Cengage is a fast moving publisher that is successfully competing within a changing college/university market. They are successfully going digital and creative in competing with the big 3 publishers.

      Cons

      Cengage declared chapter 11 in July 2013 and is in a restructure.
