Pros

Travel benefits! You can go anywhere and see anything. Delta has also changed over the last several years. It's becoming more progressive and open-minded. A lot of consideration has been given to improving the workplace environment and creating a culture that gets us excited everyday.

Cons

Pay would be the current major downside, however that's moving up in the right direction now that we have new, progressive leadership. The company also likes to reorganize the departments frequently; but hopefully that will calm down soon once the integration with Northwest is complete.

Pros

Originally the best reason was the flight benefits, but now its so hard to get time off to travel anywhere. The only reason I stay now is for the health insurance.

Cons

No matter how hard you work or what you do right...there will always be a disatisfied customer. The schedules are constantly changing and the management staff allow people who have been out on disability to come back just to bid. That is against company policy. I don't know about other stations, but at Dulles there is a clear amount of favoritism for a small handful of agents. We have agents at Dulles who go out on disability very often for made up reasons. These agents even tell you that they know their doctor and he is a friend who helps them out. There is just no consistency in how that management staff treats the agents and there are too many agents who have no moral compass.

Pros

The main reason would be the flight benefits for you and your family. Depending the group, co-workers (on your level) tend to be great to work with. They really become your family and begin to feel like you are are working for a common goal. Since most of the workers are from the "old-school" Delta world, they are quick to lend a helping hand. When the company was a little more flexible with spending, there use to be great team activities such as outings to hockey games, picnics, etc.

Cons

(Note I worked for the .com team ) You will be really overworked. I mean there is a lot of work and for whatever reason the company will fight tooth and nails not to hire full time employees opting to hire contract workers. Though this helps the bottom line, just think about having a new person project having to learn not only the project and their job but the culture of the company. Discussing the amount of work with the company will result in a nice write-up on your review about poor time management. So most workers just keep on taking on more and more crazy workloads. It is not uncommon to work 4 nights a week and Sunday evenings. Workers are so scared of losing their jobs that they take on the extra work because of the constant cloud of job loss hovering over their heads. This again leads to sloppy work are products are pushed to meet deadlines rather than great work. So you will notice products released to the public with many bugs to be fixed at a later date, the terms "first impression..." gets thrown out the window.
