Pros

Friendly environment, very nice people, great atmosphere. No dress code, flexible working hours, good office location. Ability to work from home one day per week. Clever and intelligent colleagues (from office management till upper management). Huge variety of technologies, interesting projects, it is always something new and fascinating to do. Good bonuses.

Cons

Other employees advice better compensation package such as insurance, snacks in office every Friday, etc. But, I think, great people and interesting projects compensate this con.

Pros

There are some advantages, but a lot of things yet are to be done.

Cons

It is obviously that experience may vary from team to team but you easily may face the following: - In some teams in Kyiv team leads just don’t do their work. - Your qualification doesn't matter. It is only question of matter do the manager like you or not. - You better ask meet people who you will work with. You may face there very rude and contentious ones. No one will stop them when such “colleagues” offend people. You have to be ready to defend yourself whatever that means. - How people are promoted is a long story. In short: if you don’t like to be anyone’s friend and a lovely manager’s toy then it is not for you. If you are nobody in programming but a yes man you are about to be promoted. Other people will be assigned to fix your bugs. If they will tell something to you just tell about it to your manager and you will see how it works! - If you try make things better the company may do not what you could expect. - If you are smart you will be seen as a threat are all your achievements will be ignored but ones you did mistake it will be really celebration and topic of discussions, jokes, and so on.

Pros

There are some great and talented developers, UX designers, and project managers that make the work enjoyable and valuable. There are opportunities for rapid short term growth because you will work on projects with very short turn around time with different team members. Decent benefits including health, dental, and vision.

Cons

Empathy doesn't offer much of a career for developers. There were maybe 3 promotions in the Tech department during my entire time there, while there were several promotions in each other departments every year. There are no clear career paths for developers. There are no time allocations for R&D, because billable hours dictates everything. The upper level officers mostly only care about profit. Their understanding of current trend, technologies, the importance of development quality and employee satisfaction is very minimal. Meaning they will often do what the clients ask for regardless if it's good for the end product or the clients. Sometimes, project scopes and requirements are set without proper consultation with Tech department, leading to unrealistic timeline and tons of overtime. Other times, tech advise is ignored. An example is that the company took on a years long project that requires skill sets that none in the company are proficient at or trained for, leading to overtime, frustrations, and even resignations of several employees. Since acquisition by EPAM Systems, projects routinely includes members from oversea making communication difficult because of the lack of face-to-face interaction and time zone differences. Annual review process is not effective. Reviews are often not completed on time by managers. Many people leave and many new hires over the years.
