Pros

The vacation/benefits package is typically good Recent move to Agile work environment for product teams

Cons

Upper level management makes incompetent decisions in regards to resourcing and alignment Little to no career development Too strong of a focus on tools instead of communication (ever changing tools)

Pros

Very relaxed work environment., no fixed work times as long as work is getting delivered on time. keeps you busy almost year-round. Decent location

Cons

Company has a record of hiring felons and continue to do so which makes me feel unsafe. Decisions about projects are often taken without the technical feedback from the base level employees.

Pros

This is the largest STM publisher and as such the overall organization is superior. Some opportunities for career development and training. Benefits are overall satisfactory and a better than average 401k plan.

Cons

There seems to be at least one significant restructuring on an annual basis with little thought on how it will impact employees. Turnover is constant especially at the mid manager level and at the lower level. In my four year tenure, I had four different bosses each with a slightly different agenda and plan. Most folks are out for themselves and there are many cliques and favoritism is rampant. Promotion is not based on merit and many times those elevated into roles are not qualified.
