Pros

Colleagues are knowledgeable, professional, hardworking and willing to help. Salary and benefits are competitive for this market space. Large organization with professional growth opportunites

Cons

Too many layers of management creates a difficult environment from and internal productivity standpoint. Multiple products overlap benefits and functionality which creates internal competition and confusion in the market. Products and content are solid but Elsevier's primary benefit remains in the Publishing sector and lacks knowledge in the technology space.

Good place to work for a few years, but time to move on.

Pros

Opportunities to work with a global company, flexibility to work from home, dedicated people. Travel to Amsterdam, London, and some US cities. Upper management, at least in my group, cares about the people.

Cons

There isn't a whole lot going on in New York. Lots of activity happening in Amsterdam, London and elsewhere. Managers rely on Powerpoint decks to communicate ideas (must be a b-school thing). Sometimes it takes awhile to get something done. Drab office setups

Pros

Elsevier is a great place to work! There is a great "team" atmosphere and the people are incredibly friendly. They offer great benefits and the flexible hours/ summer hours are definitely a perk! Lots of opportunities to move around as it is such a large company.

Cons

I agree with a fellow reviewer that your experience is very dependent upon your manager. I have had a great experiences with most of the people I have worked with but if change is needed, the company is very slow to react.
