Pros

The fact I worked 18 years and had another full time job and I was part time and they gave me an opportunity it was appreciated. The 401k match is decent 100% of the first three percent (3%) of an employee's eligible compensation, and 50% of the next two percent (2%). Mileage Reimbursement. Great systems in place to communicate with customers and follow ups from stores you were at the previous day if you are at another store. They do have bonus opportunities even if you work at other stores you get credits for move ins and reviews. District Managers I interacted with were very professional and flexible but they have a heavy work load. They have decent insurance if your working full time.

Cons

Think your working at one store absolutely not. Part-Time and Full Time employees associates or maintenance they have you run from store to store where other facilities are short 3-4 locations each week. By doing that you have no loyalty or responsibilities to adhere to because the employees jump from store to store. There is no loyalty almost impossible to retain customers and build relationships. So don't expect to be working at the same store unless you are the Manger of the Store If you work part time they expect you to work three 8hr shifts. Be expected to work Holidays. There is no company functions or outings or end of year holiday parties. Company relies on you heavily to deal with the customer if good bad and the ugly comes along break ins, upset customers. People love storage no matter what happens.

Pros

Solid schedule - 40 hours per week, not expected to be there more than that. No one looking over your shoulder constantly (unless you have a new DM, they can't seem to help it) Mostly great people to work with Local, immediate management does care and are helpful.

Cons

Very large rate increases really upset customers and that's just too bad. We are given word to tell them but it just isn't true. Putting more money in stock holder's pockets is the bottom line and it doesn't matter how much anger we have to deal with. You are absolutely expected to sell insurance to every renter. However, you must be careful because you aren't "insurance salesmen". You get a ding when you don't sell it. We are encouraged to use evasive language and rush through it so the renter thinks it's required without quite saying so. You would think this large of a corporation would have handymen available but it is so, so difficult to get the smallest repair done due to getting bids from vendors, turning them in, reminding the person you turned them in to what needs done maybe getting approval, then scheduling. By that time lights (or whatever) have been out for a month or 2. Benefits are very expensive and cover so little.
