Pros
Many of the people with whom I worked (across technical areas) really care about the work they do and are truly knowledgeable.
Cons
Some people in management positions were kept in roles they did not deserve to hold - they were not managerial, not willing to listen to people with more experience than them, and despite repeated reports of rudeness/lack of professionalism, etc. they held their jobs while good employees quit.
