Pros

- Company is mismanaged, you can basically do whatever you want - People are very nice - Pay can be negotiated to obscenely high amounts - Not a high-pressure environment at all

Cons

- Company is mismanaged to a massive degree and operates worse than the government - Work is really boring and not fulfilling - Employees are fine being mediocre and don't have the passion that some tech workers have - Pervasive laziness from many on-site employees, while the off-site employees work non-stop - Jira boards routinely have 3-4 year old tickets on them (in your current sprint) - Since the company makes money regardless of whether or not the product is good, there is no incentive to make a good product - BASICALLY NO CODING at a software engineering job - aws instances are slow despite this company bringing in mountains of cash - Many senior developers did not know how the product fit together - NONEXISTENT DOCUMENTATION for all facets of the product. Have fun combing through 40,000+ plus lines of code for a small bug - Due to the way the software is managed, bugs that get fixed on one platform might still exist on other platforms for months - None of the work actually matters, You will likely be fixing meaningless small software bugs that 99.9999999% of client's wont use - Charter hiring team has no issue branding test/verification jobs as developer jobs - Senior devs think they're really cool despite not programming once in the last 6-7 years - Meetings are meaningless and usually very long. Oftentimes you will just see senior devs squabbling over small features that don't matter to the overall use of the product - The back end for the charter internet provisioning system is ancient, maybe 2-3 people in the entire company knows how it works and no one ever bothered to tell the new workers how to use it/update it so it's easier to use - Company relies on bad third-party management software for most of its systems and the system is often down - layers and layers and layers of upper management just get in the way of a good product/internet experience - Sometimes fellow engineers get a call from their wife and leave the office for 2 hours every day for god knows what reason (when they are working on the same task as you) - test team is useless and oftentimes the workflow is just: test team tests bug -> can't find the bug -> assigns to dev team -> dev team confirms issue exists-> assign back to testers -> they can't see an issue that exists on our setup that took 5 minutes to test. - None of the above issues will be fixed because charter does not care to fix them.

Pros

I've worked as an RCS in the Daytona Beach market and my experience has been very positive. Like any outside sales position, success comes down to attitude, consistency, and following a proven system. The reps who struggle are often looking for shortcuts, while the reps who put in the time, learn the process, and stay coachable tend to do very well. Pros: Strong earning potential with uncapped commissions Flexible schedule and independence in the field Supportive teammates and leadership Excellent products that solve real customer needs. More than most of the competition. Opportunities to grow and increase income over time The biggest advantage is that you control your own results. If you're willing to work consistently, learn from successful reps, and stick to a proven approach, this can be a very rewarding career. This is not a sit-at-a-desk job. You'll be walking neighborhoods, talking to people, handling objections, and hearing "no" along the way. That's part of sales. If you enjoy meeting people, helping customers, and taking ownership of your success, the role offers significant upside.

Cons

The role requires patience, consistency, and resilience. Many of the customers we speak with are former subscribers who may have left due to a past service issue, billing concern, or negative experience. Reps often have to overcome skepticism and rebuild trust before even discussing current products and promotions. There is definitely a learning curve, and success doesn't happen overnight. It takes time to learn the territory, understand customer concerns, and develop the communication skills needed to turn difficult conversations into opportunities. Reps who remain coachable, follow a proven system, and stay consistent with their activity tend to perform much better over time.
