Great culture, great bosses. Crap schedule. - Sales Associate TJ Maxx Employee Review

Pros

Every manager I've had at a Maxx actually cares about their employees. Not just in basic terms, but they actually give a darn about how your life is going. When my house was flooded one year, my boss found a coworker for me to stay with, and gave me money to get some basic things I needed (toothbrush, change of clothes, etc.) without my even asking. They're also good with transfers, and many members of management started off as base-level employees. It's pretty easy work, and as part-time jobs go, the hours aren't too bad.

Cons

My schedule is awful. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays I work 7-12. I work two other days a week (which varies), but almost always 5-10 or 10:30. My bosses are also kind of scattered and when I request time off, they often forget to put it into the system.

Pros

-flexible and accomodating hours - good partime job for college student - very neutral experience, but the fact that it wasn't terrible makes it a pro -10% employee discount

Cons

-lower pay than other retail places ($12 when I was there) - general cons that just come with retail (rude customers, boring tasks, etc.) - store is constantly being rearranged, and is also disorganized on purpose so customers have to search through/look at more things to find what they are looking for -CONSTANTLY having to push the TJ Maxx credit card and having managers literally walk by to make sure you are - can't wear t-shirts or any graphic tees including ones in the store (which always bothered me because if they can sell it I should be able to wear it)
