They Work You To Death If You're A Cashier - Cashier/Sales Associate TJ Maxx Employee Review

Pros

The employees you work with are friendly and that makes for a good work environment.

Cons

It should be stated before you're even officially hired and accept the job what would be required of you. I was hired as a cashier but even when I went on my break, I was obligated to walk around the store cleaning up items off the floor, looking for empty packages or tags torn off of merchandise that people had stolen, picking up clothing that might've fallen off the hanger, checking the bathrooms and cleaning them if they weren't clean. The company wasn't short staffed but why are cashiers suppose to do everyone's work for them, when they are going on their break? Cashiers did the most work in the store and to think (and was not told differently) I was just getting hired to greet customers when they're ready to purchase their items, scan and bag their purchases..... it was ridiculous. Being paid minimum wage to do multiple jobs and have so many responsibilities was not what was explained to me before being trained and I left so I wouldn't end up hating a company I enjoyed shopping at.

Pros

nice break room, lovely employees and supervisors so far!

Cons

barely any hours for anyone, corporate is shady. lied about hiring (they put out a hiring table with business cards even though our store was NOT hiring and our employees were barely getting any work) and they are anti-union
