Pros
BP represents a classic example of a 'top down' organization. If you are wanting to learn about complex organizations and how they operate, this is the place to work.
Cons
My colleagues and I used to discuss the analogy of the "Emperor's New Clothes" to BP. Management likes to make major organizational changes every 2-3 years. This includes reshuffling of personnel, now policies, practices and procedures as well as new business processes. The result is an organization that is always in flux and one where senior level leadership prescribes the changes based on studies/consultants without input from the organization...especially operations.
